Our story
Highcare Cleanrooms: Innovation, Flexibility & Global Growth
With decades of experience in cleanroom technology, Highcare started in the 1960s as an installation company and grew into a pioneer in modular and demountable cleanrooms. Thanks to our partnership with Philips and a continued focus on innovation, we now deliver flexible cleanroom solutions that meet the highest international standards and evolve with our customers’ needs.
From installation company to cleanroom pioneer
The early years at Philips and the dust-free rooms
In the 1960s, Highcare started as part of the NIG Group, where it focused on maintenance work at all Philips locations in the Netherlands. This included installing dust-free rooms for the assembly of products for the first customers. These cleanrooms were used for the production of electronic components, which laid the foundation for Highcare’s expertise in controlled environments. The experience gained during this collaboration formed the foundation for the company that would grow into one of Europe’s largest cleanroom manufacturers.
The rise of IFD technology
In the 1980s, Highcare developed the Industrial Flexible Demountable (IFD) system. This modular construction concept makes it possible to quickly install, expand and even relocate cleanrooms. This technology allows a cleanroom to be installed as a stand-alone facility in existing buildings, providing flexibility for growing companies that later move to larger locations. A key advantage of the system is the ability to place polluting equipment outside the cleanroom, thus maintaining air quality.
Expansion to Eastern Europe and Brazil
After successfully implementing cleanrooms in countries such as Belgium and Germany, Highcare has expanded its horizons to the Eastern European market, where it has supplied cleanrooms to companies such as Pranapharm. The company’s growth ambitions extend further with plans to expand activities to Brazil and the Middle East, under the leadership of director Bas de Bruijn.
Focus on innovation and globalization
The future of Highcare lies in further innovation and globalization. The company is focusing on new markets, such as Brazil and the Middle East and continues to invest in advanced cleanroom technologies. The IFD system remains an important asset here, as it helps companies quickly adapt their production facilities to changing requirements.
Partnerships
Highcare has built an impressive client portfolio, which includes names such as DSM, VDL, Thermo Fisher, Mead Johnson, Nearfield and Antwerp Space. These companies rely on Highcare’s expertise for their cleanroom solutions, which are essential for their production processes. The diversity of the company’s clients emphasizes the versatility of its cleanrooms, which are used in various sectors.
Sectors: Semiconductors, defence, pharmaceuticals and food
Highcare serves various sectors, including the semiconductor industry (semicon), (bio)pharmaceutical companies, the food industry and even the aerospace and defence industries. Business processes in these sectors require a dust-free and stable environment to ensure that products are produced consistently and reliably. Cleanrooms play a crucial role in this, as they help to minimize errors and ensure quality.
Cleanroom quality: ISO and international standards
Highcare’s cleanrooms meet international standards such as ISO 14644, cGMP, HACCP and BRC, depending on the sector. These certifications not only guarantee air purity, but also the overall safety and reliability of production processes. The cleanrooms are regularly tested and audited by independent parties to ensure high standards.
